* Year 1397 AH / May 1977 AD Menachem Begin assumes the presidency of the Zionist government after the Likud party wins the legislature.

* Year 1427 AH / June 2006 AD The Palestinian resistance succeeds in capturing the Zionist soldier Gilad Shalit from the eastern border of the Gaza Strip.

* Year 1428 AH / June 2007 AD Hamas was able to control the Gaza Strip after sharp differences with the Fatah movement characterized by ebb and flow, as a result of which dozens of people were killed on both sides, and ended with the control of Hamas in what its supporters call military decisiveness. Fatah supporters call it a coup.

* In 1432 AH / May 2011 AD US President Obama announces that his country killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in a military operation near Islamabad.
