Definition of Palestinian refugee, It is a new book by Issam Adwan, the book dealt with the definitions related to the concept of Palestinian refugees, because of the subject of the definition of paramount importance in determining their numbers, rights, legal protection for them, and determining responsibility for their situation. The definitions of the Palestinian refugee differed due to economic and political considerations, which harmed the refugee issue and diverted it from the proper direction of the definition.
Objectives of the book:
The book aims to review the most important prevailing definitions about the concept of the Palestinian refugee (with economic and political dimensions) and to show the shortcomings in each of them. It also aimed to develop a comprehensive definition that can be adopted by official and national bodies in addressing the issue of Palestinian refugees.
Prevailing definitions
The book began by clarifying who a refugee is, Then who is the Palestinian according to the Palestinian National Charter? Hence dealing with definitions with an economic dimension: As the definition of UNRWA, and the definition of the Federation of Red Cross Societies. He then addressed definitions with a political dimension: As defined by the Palestine Liberation Organization’s Department of Refugee Affairs, The Palestinian Refugee Negotiating Delegation, and the term absentees, dealt with by the Israeli occupation state, and the term displaced.
The Comprehensive Concept of Palestinian Refugees:
This concept has been recognized by expert testimonies: For example, as the definition of researcher Najwa Hassawi, and the definition of the writer, The definition based on the definition of the writer approved by the second Palestinian Legislative Council in the Law of ReturnNo. (1) of 2008.
