The partition decision and the role of the Holy Jihad Brigades in defending Jerusalem:
As is well known, the resolution on the partition of Palestine was issued by the United Nations in 1947, which stipulated the division of Palestine into three areas, the first an Arab state, the second a Jewish state, and the third the mandate area, which determined the fate of Jerusalem, where Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth and Tiberias were placed.
One of the results of this decision was the formation of the Holy Jihad Brigades, which took it upon themselves to defend Jerusalem, carrying out qualitative operations in Jerusalem and its surroundings in order to thwart plans to implement the partition decision, including blowing up the headquarters of the Jewish Agency in Jerusalem. The Jerusalem-Jaffa road was cut off as well as a siege imposed on Jewish settlements west of the city.
