After the 1948 Nakba, the Palestinian people suffered from the loss of national identity. And turned the eyes of those looking forward to liberation, To the Islamic, Arab and Communist parties, Hopes were pinned on the Arab countries to liberate Palestine and rid the Palestinians of their suffering. As this mirage fades, A group of Palestinian youth realized that work for Palestine must start as Palestinians and within a general national popular framework.

Whereas the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) was the first Palestinian movement to call for Palestinian action, It was founded in 1958, and the late Yasser Arafat was one of the contributors to the emergence of the Fatah movement, I saw some light shed on the stages of the emergence and establishment of Fatah, which spearheaded popular and later official Palestinian action.

I have found that there are few specialized scientific studies, In addition to the failure of some of them to cover the stages of the Fatah movement since its roots, Most of the writings and studies have taken 1965 as the beginning of the history of the movement. And this is a cover for her, I have tried to combine presentation and discussion style, and analysis whenever possible, Aiming to study the circumstances of the emergence and establishment of the Palestinian movement, and to get to know some of its founders, The study came in three chapters:

The first chapter of the book The Emergence of the Fatah Movement discussed:

Circumstances of the emergence of Fatah, He talked about the political parties and institutions that preceded them and Fatah benefited from them. Then talk about the factors of the emergence of Fatah.

The second chapter dealt with:

Preparatory meetings for Fatah founders, And the harbingers of the Fatah movement and its participation in guerrilla action and some of its political positions in the root stage, Then talk about the preparatory meetings and even the founding meeting in 1958.

The third chapter deals with the biographies of some of Fatah’s founders.

The study relied on Fatah’s publications, although there is a noticeable lack of documents due to the loss and damage of some of them. In order to establish the facts, The researcher resorted to personal interviews, and telephone contact with some of the founders, Some interviews and calls have enriched this study.

While others declined to provide details on some important issues about the emergence of the Palestinian liberation movement “Fatah”, However, the study tried to overcome these obstacles by referring to most of the writings that dealt with the Palestinian national liberation movement “Fatah”, Especially the writings of its founders.

In particular, Kamal Adwan’s manuscript recorded the events and ideas of the Fatah nucleus in Gaza and dealt with the factors of Fatah’s emergence and its strains (1954-1957).

I must extend my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to providing information for this study, which focuses on the origin, In particular, I would like to mention Messrs. Naji Alloush, Yahya Habash (Sakhr Abu Nizar) and Ghalib Al-Wazir, may God have mercy on them, for the documents and sources they provided. I also thank those who cooperated with me in answering my questions in interviews, phone calls and correspondence.
