Total quality in Islam and its impact on education
Total quality is defined as: A set of standards, specifications, characteristics and standards that should be available in all elements of the educational system, To meet the wishes and expectations of student and community satisfaction, In order to achieve wonderful distinguished outputs that meet the needs of society as a whole, And the desires of the individual as the unit of construction of this society.
Total Quality in Islam:
The principle of quality is an old existence, and was manifested in the civilization of Mesopotamia, more than fifty thousand years ago, as Hammurabi’s legislation contained a text to its content: that whoever builds a house falls on its inhabitants, killing them, the penalty is death, this legislation is only a dedication to the principle of quality and perfection and urging it (Attia, 2007, p. 26). Then came the Holy Qur’an and confirmed this principle fourteen centuries and thirty-seven years ago in the saying of the Almighty
: (Allah made the one who mastered everything) [An-Naml: 88]. And the Almighty says: “We have created man in the best calendar“ [Figs:
4]، It is an indication of the quality of creation, And the benevolence and creativity of the Creator.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah (SWT) loves if one of you does a deed to master it” (Al-Bayhaqi, 2003, p. 4931). Islam in its totality (creed, law, ethics, and as a philosophy directed to the universe, man and life) is the perfection and completeness of quality, and from it the infinite dimension can be understood in
Saying
:
( Today I have completed your religion for you and I have completed my grace on you and I have accepted Islam as a religion for you [Table: 3], which made those who adhere to its provisions translate this philosophy in all matters of their lives, Our master Joseph – peace be upon him – asked the Pharaoh of Egypt to give him its treasuries, Because he is better able to master his work and expressed it as: Save And science as the basis for the success of his work, And the reason for its quality and mastery in the words of the Almighty: (said Make me on the earth’s vaults I am Hafeez Alim) [Joseph:55] (Al-Mahdi, 2013, p. 28).
If Islam is a religion of quality and creativity, It is the perfect religion of God and quality is not new to the Islamic religion, The concept of quality is present in all the teachings of Islam in all its contents. Therefore, educators should derive the meanings of quality from the concepts of Islam. And work to achieve it in all fields, On top of the educational process, especially that Islam is interested in science, It is urged, It is a fortiori, that the principles of total quality be achieved in the entire educational process, Which has become the most widespread concept for the development of work methods in various fields.
Also, the term quality in the Holy Qur’an is represented in the word horses in the Holy Verse in the saying: ( He was offered the horses in the Ashi) [Pg 31] Any offer to the Prophet of Allah Solomon – peace be upon him – horses Safinnat, i.e. standing on the tip of the hoof as a metaphor for activity, vitality, strength, readiness to go, and docility with its rider.
Based on this glorious Qur’anic description of the horse standing and starting the term horse was launched on the horse because of its advantage of fast running strong well (Jerada, 2004, p. 14). Quality is an individual, civilized, social and legitimate necessity, because Islam is the law of God to mankind, so it requires the development and refinement of man so that he can perform his task well, as he is accountable for the words of the Almighty: (Stop them, they are responsible) [Saffat: 24]; Therefore, quality was a legitimate necessity and not only a human choice, the Almighty said: Man is calculated to be left in vain) [Al-Qiyamah: 36] (Al-Mahdi, 2013, p. 50).
Some of the connotations of the concept of total quality in Islam:
The concept of total quality in Islam has many connotations, including: Charity, mastery, validity, sincerity, For example, but not limited to, But the researcher limited himself to presenting some of them, including:
- Mastery of work: as quality means bringing the work in a perfect way, Without deficiencies or defects, Glory be to Him, the images of His mastery are manifested in His making of everything, for He is the one who says: (The work of Allah who has mastered everything) [An-Naml: 88] (Samurai, And Nasser, and ruler, 2012, p. 23). If teachers master the work in explanation, clarification, and enrichment, In support of students, This will be due to high-quality learning outcomes.
- PietyIt is as defined by Ali bin Abi Talib – may God honor his face – that it is (fear of Galilee, work by downloading, satisfaction with little, and preparation for the day of departure, it is a reason for all salvation for saying – Almighty -: (And whoever fears God will make a way out for him and provide him from where he does not count, and whoever trusts in God is according to him, God has made everything a destiny )[Talaq: 2] Al-Qarni, 2002, p. (195).
The teacher is entrusted with his work, Entrusted in the classroom to students, entrusted to the minds of young people, If he fears God in his work, And he did what pleases his Lord, Inevitably, the outputs of his work will be of high quality.
- Wisdom: It is the knowledge of the facts of things as they are, And work according to it, as in the Almighty’s saying: (Wisdom comes from whoever wills, and whoever brings wisdom has come much good, and it is mentioned only that they give priority to the minds) [Al-Baqarah: 269]، Wisdom is a degree that transcends knowledge by guaranteeing knowledge of the truth and acting on it. injury in words and deeds, The Islamic concept of wisdom lends many connotations to the concept of total quality in Islam.
The teacher, while dealing with students, And with others to know the truth, It works, and right in word and deed, If it does work, He sets a good example for his students; all of this is due to high-quality learning outcomes.
- Cooperation: Islam has emphasized the need to cooperate for the sake of good, and this is evident through the Almighty’s saying: “Cooperate in righteousness and piety, do not cooperate in sin and aggression, and fear God, for God is severely punished“ [Al-Ma’idah 2]. Teamwork is one of the basic requirements for total quality (Al-Zahrani, 2011, p. 27).
The duty of the teacher is the need for students to participate in making decisions related to their education, which casts a shadow on the speed of compliance, Being among the decision makers, This leads to quality learning outcomes.
- Payment : The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Pay and approach”, as payment is the truth of righteousness, which is injury in all words and deeds, and the approach: to hit what is close to the imposition if the imposition is not injured (Al-Sufi, 2004, p. 113).
Having reviewed the connotations of the concept of total quality in Islam, and its projection on the field of education by teachers, The nation must possess a legitimate and universal approach, If applied correctly and properly, This will entail strong human leadership, All the meanings are manifested in them: Mastery, accuracy, excellence, that achieve the quality we aspire to.
Quality standards mean those standards and specifications approved by Muslim scholars, In the light of which the quality of the educational process is judged as inputs and outputs, with all its elements, These include:

Ibn Khaldun also believes that quality standards in education are:

- Learner quality criterion: It is to take into account the learner’s energy, and to take into account the readiness to learn.
- The criterion of the quality of a healthy supportive environment: It is to stay away from violence.
- The standard of quality of the teaching method: It is represented in direct indoctrination from the teacher to the learner.
- The criterion of curriculum quality: It is represented in the distance from abbreviations in the curriculum, moving from the tangible to the abstract (Marjin, 2015, p. 79).
