*سنة14هــ/سبتمبر 635م: المسلمون بقيادة أبي عبيدة بن الجراح، وخالد بن الوليد يفتحون مدينة دمشق، بعد حصار شديد دافع فيه الروم عن المدينة، ولكن ذلك لم يمنع من سقوطها وطلبهم الصلح، فأجابهم أبو عبيدة إليه.
*سنة583هــ/سبمبر1187م السلطان الناصر صلاح الدين الأيوبي يبدأ في حصار القدس.
*سنة1300هــ/مايو1883م: وفاة الأمير عبد القادر الجزائري قائد حركة الجهاد الإسلامي ضد الاحتلال الفرنسي في الجزائر.
*سنة1340هــ/مارس1922م: السلطان أحمد فؤاد باشا يعلن نفسه ملكًا على مصر، وهو ابن إسماعيل بن إبراهيم بن محمد علي باشا، تقلد حكم مصر عام 1917م كسلطان ثم حوّل مصر إلى مملكة.
*سنة1353هــ/فبراير1925م: الحكومة التركية بقيادة أتاتورك تصدر قراراً حكومياً بتوقف الصلاة بجامع آيا صوفيا، ونزع سجاجيده ولوحاته الكتابية العربية ومنبره، وتحويله لمتحف سياحي.
السادس عشر من رجب:
*سنة1366هـ/يونيو1947م: الولايات المتحدة تعلن مشروع “مارشال” لإنعاش اقتصاديات دول أوربا الغربية بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية.
*سنة1381هــ/ديسمبر1961م الرئيس المصري جمال عبد الناصر يعلن تأميم كل ممتلكات الأجانب ويمنع دخول الفرنسيين إلى مصر بعد اعتقال أربعة منهم بتهمة التجسس والتآمر عليه.
*سنة1390هــ/سبتمبر1970م الملك الأردني الحسين بن طلال يعلن الحكم العسكري في أعقاب اختطاف أربع طائرات مدنية من قبل الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين بزعامة جورج حبش.
*سنة1405هــ/إبريل1985م الإطاحة بالرئيس جعفر نميري بعد اضطرابات دامت لعدة أيام في السودان.
*سنة1414هــ/ديسمبر1993م اختتام المحادثات الفلسطينية الصهيونية في القاهرة بين وزير الخارجية الإسرائيلي شمعون بيريز وممثل السلطة الوطنية الفلسطينية محمود عباس دون تسوية العقبات المتعلقة بالأمن.

* Year 1300 AH / May 1883 AD: Prince Abdelkader Al-Jazaeri, leader of the Islamic Jihad movement against the French occupation in Algeria, dies.
* Year 1340 AH / March 1922 AD: Sultan Ahmed Fouad Pasha proclaims himself King of Egypt, He is the son of Ismail bin Ibrahim bin Muhammad Ali Pasha, He ruled Egypt in 1917 as Sultan and then turned Egypt into a kingdom.
* Year 1353 AH / February 1925 AD: The Turkish government led by Ataturk issues a government decision to stop praying at the Hagia Sophia Mosque, He removed his carpets, Arabic inscription paintings and pulpit, And turn it into a tourist museum.

* Year 1366 AH / June 1947 AD: The United States announces the Marshall Plan to revive the economies of Western Europe after World War II.
* In 1381 AH / December 1961 AD, Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser announces the nationalization of all foreign property and prevents the entry of French to Egypt after arresting four of them on charges of espionage and conspiracy against him.
* Year 1390 AH / September 1970 AD Jordanian King Hussein bin Talal declares military rule following the hijacking of four civilian aircraft by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine led by George Habash.
* Year 1405 AH / April 1985 AD The overthrow of President Gaafar Nimeiri after several days of unrest in Sudan.
* Year 1414 AH / December 1993 AD The conclusion of the Palestinian-Zionist talks in Cairo between Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres and the representative of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas without settling the obstacles related to security.
